Best approach is to think and come out with solutions -- many alternate
strategies how the bad situation can be handled, mitigated or deflected. When
u think in terms of +ve solutions and not -ve problems, the person who is
receiving the bad news must know: (a) that u r sincerely sorry for the bad or
-ve news and message (b) u r doing your best to mitigate the effects of the
-ve message (c) suggest a few "together" and "we" types of solutions (d) above
all, give assurance and confidence to the person receiving the -ve message
that the news might be -ve ... but that u still believe in him (her) and that
self-esteem of the person remains in tact or increases ... cos u r with them
in their times of trouble ... and are willing to stand by them and rectify the
situation.
