Dear member, typhoid fever involves the inflammation of theglands of small
intestine. So one has to see that the food given should be soft and non
irritating to the intestines. The water should be boiled before consumption
or should from a bottled source of a reputed company in order to avoid any
further infection. The choice of foods further depends upon the condition of
the abdomen. If the patient is having pain on pressing the abdomen and /or
loose motions, and or distention then utmost care should be taken to avoid
food which has too much fibre and a bland( without spices but with salt)and
soft diet like khichdi, yellow moong dal gruels idli, rice, suji kheer, sago
can be given. As the condition improves daliya, thicker dals , soft
vegetables can be introduced. milk and curd should be avoided in the former
condition but can be given once that phase is over. Fluids like ORS
solutions, home made salt and sugar solutions, coconut water should be given.
