codifying a signal for transmission purpose,to avoid interference and mixing
with other signals and recovering later by decodifying.

Hi, i wanted to let u know that,
Encoding means when u convert the data in
to some other form during the transmission and decoding means interpret the
same data in to it's original form or acceptable form (as it was b4
conversion).
Example: In voice communication (Telephone process) first voice
is converted or encoded in to electrical or light signal by the encoder then
transmitted over wire or optical fiber or other transmission media to other
side where it is received and again converted or decoded in to it's original
form by the decoder in to phone set so that we can hear the voice on the
receiver.
