Vaastu Shastra's Advices and Tips for Kitchen

Bangalore : Vastu Shastra is a growing trend among the Indian households because of the positive effects it brings upon one’s life. In house, kitchen is the most affected area where all kinds of energies abound. We cannot under accentuate the significance of proper Vastu for kitchen. In many houses, especially in villages the kitchen is at the outside of the house, but this is not the appropriate way. As per the Vastu, kitchen should be sited in the South-Eastern (Agneya corner) part of the house and other best place for the kitchen is North-West (Vayavya corner).

Following are few advices and tips that need to be considered while setting up the kitchen.

  • The kitchen should not be located above or under the pooja room, bath room or bedroom.
  • The kitchen platform in the L shape near the south wall is preferable for keeping Stove, burner and any other electrical appliances like grinder, Mixer, microwave oven etc and should be placed a few inches away from the wall.
  • While cooking the person should face the east side as it brings good health to family members in that house. If it is not possible to face, place a convex mirror on the wall or over the stove, so that you can notice the direction of the East.
  • The wash basin should be in North-East corner. The water decanter and other water related utensils should be placed in the North-East or North side of the kitchen. The north of the kitchen should be kept as light as possible.
  • Grain, spices, pulses storage boxes should be kept in the South or West direction.
  • In kitchen, larger windows should on the east or west wall. Small ventilators or Exhaust fan should be in the south wall.
  • If there is a dining table in the kitchen, it should keep in the North-West or West direction.
  • The gas cylinder should place in South-East corner. The refrigerator should be installed in South-West corner of the kitchen.
  •  The gas burner should not be placed in front of the kitchen door.
  • Kitchen doors should be in any of the corners of East, North and West.

Ideal colors:

The color of the floor and the walls should ideally be green, chocolate, orange, rose, yellow or red. As far as possible, one shouldn’t keep their kitchen in black, navy blue and grey in color.
