"Save Balabrooie" campaign to Protest against Bangalore Heritage

Bangalore : On Sunday, the concerned Bangaloreans staged a dispute against the state government for its decision to annihilate 200 years old Balabrooie guest house in the heart of Bangalore city. About 50 to 60 individuals, including members of BPAC (Bangalore Political Action Committee) staged a silent protest outside the guest house to protest and preserve the Heritage of India. Bollywood actress as well as singer Vasudhara Das and Singer and songwriter Raghu Dixit were also joined the protest. The state government decided to demolish the heritage building by cutting down the surrounded tress to make a club house for legislatures.

“An ancient building Balabrooie guest house and its surroundings should be left alone” one of the protestor, Arish Bijoor said.
The guest house situated opposite to Bangalore Golf Club which spread over 14 acres has huge rooms and surrounded with 100 years of old trees and iconic lush gardens.  It has had several high profile visitors such as Rabindranath Tagore and Jawaharlal Nehru. On Sunday, Raghu Dixit also said that it is the duty of citizens to protect the miscellany of the city’s heritage.

With the collaboration of various historians, architect Naresh V narasimhan, INTACH (Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage) and BPAC (Bangalore Political Action Committee), campaign “Save Balabrooie” has been launched on social networking site of Facebook.
