India's Bigwigs Who Own Houses In Lutyen's Zone

BANGALORE: Lutyens’ Delhi, one of the most expensive residential locality in India, is named after British architect Edwin Lutyens. It includes the Lutyens bungalow zone which is spread over 2,800 hectare. The bungalows in this area are for the government officials and their administrative offices. Out of about 1000 bungalows only 10 per cent of the bungalows are in private hands. The market price of the land in the area is about rs7.5 million per sq yard. LBZ also include 7 Race Course Road complex and the official residence of the Prime Minister of India.

The former law and telecom minister Kapil Sibal will soon shift to Lutyens’ Bungalow Zone (LBZ) New Delhi. He has recently lost his seat in the lower house of parliament and supposes to vacate the government house. Siddharth Sareen, a Delhi based businessman owns the bungalow built on 1,259 sq yards in Jor Bagh in which Sibal will move. Though both of them are not ready to disclose the rent amount, sources stated that Sareen had demanded rs18 lakh but they settled in rs16 lakh per month. Even at rs16 lakh the bungalow is one of the most expensive in the city. His new house will have an office of his law and practice.
