Bangalore: In the era of internet, property registration is no longer a headache like earlier days. Likewise, Hyderabad city is all geared up to get online property registration facility which the department of stamp and registration is planning to introduce from coming May. It is expected that this move will bring relief to property owners as they can book their slot online at the sub-registrar’s office in lieu of waiting in the queue to meet the sub-registrar. This process is likely to bring transparency to the property transactions because the process may reduce the possibility of false and duplicate registrations.

This process may come into effect from May 1st.  Currently, the department is mobilizing all the data in their website, which includes property owned by the government, private as well as the property allotted to the weaker section as well as each survey numbers in the state. Moreover, the department’s measure will also benefit to prospective buyers where they can verify the legal status of a particular property they want to buy and also can check whether the property is eligible to buy or not.

Madhusudhan Rao, Commissioner and inspector general, stamps and registration, stated that in the initial stages, users can access all the relevant data through APonline and Mee Seva, which will slowly become an open access system. The online data will also include the land details which are allotted to SCs and STs, prohibited lands, government land and also the details related to previous transactions. The department is in the process of connecting all registrar office in the state with the central server.

Furthermore, the department is uploading the list of prohibited properties which include temple properties, list of GPAs since 1995, list of cancelled GPAs and the market value of properties for public domain. On this note, Rao added that “Of the 430 offices, 72 offices have already been connected to the central server. By the end of April, 100 more offices will be added to the network,” reports TOI.

In his interview to TOI Rao said that the laborious work of updating and uploading all the survey data is being carried out with the help of revenue department. In addition Rao also said that the aim of this project is to simplify the registration process to a level where registration of property gets as easy as booking a railway ticket.

Rao further added that “One can book a slot for registration from the AP online or Mee Seva websites to ascertain the property value cross check whether a property is legal or not, find out the amount of tax to be paid etc. Once the slot is allotted for registration, jumping the queue is not possible for the registering authority without recording a valid reason.”
