Did You Know? Infosys CEO SD Shibulal Owns 700 Apartments In Seattle

BANGALORE: CEO of Infosys, SD Shibulal who is all set to retire in the coming month is now shifting his interest towards real estate and owns over 700 apartments in the Seattle and Bellevue area in the northwest Pacific coast. Some of his tenants include senior to mid-level employees of firms like Microsoft, Starbucks and Amazon. Not just within India, this outgoing CEO has a wide range of apartments in the U.S. too, reports IndiaTV.
As per the sources, Shibulal entered realty about some years ago by purchasing some coffee and tea estate at Coorg and Ooty. One of the ventures, The Tamara, promoted by his daughter Shruti Manchanda, owns a luxury resort in Coorg, a 108-room hotel in Thiruvananthapuram and a 54-room hotel in Kodaikanal, besides several properties across Karnataka, Kerala and Tamil Nadu.
Senthil Kumar N, who manages Shibulal's family office said, “We believe real estate as an asset class provides a high probability in protecting the wealth against inflation in the respective geographies in the long run," reports IndiaTV.
On the other hand, Kumar neither confirm nor disclose the number of apartments owned by Shibulal's family in the Seattle area. Coming to the hospitality sector, the family office also holds a 50 percent stake in Avant Garde Hospitality which manages two restaurants in Bangalore, Fava and Caperberry.
